For classrooms in Aotearoa

Feelings shouldn't get lost between home and school.

MoodSpace Classroom creates a private bridge between children, teachers and families. Children check in at school in under ten seconds. Teachers can see who may benefit from a gentle check-in and, with parent permission, share relevant updates with families. Nothing is public and no feelings are scored.

Made in Aotearoa by the makers of MoodSpace. The demo uses a made-up school and made-up children.

Twelve little clay characters, one for each feeling a child can choose: happy, excited, calm, okay, tired, worried, sad, frustrated, angry, scared, overwhelmed and not sure.

Try it: pick a feeling

Nobody has been singled out yet.

Only the teacher sees this. No other child can.

Tama's week

Nothing to see yet.

You choose what's shared, and you can see who has looked.

New

It grows up with your class.

A six-year-old and a twelve-year-old want very different things from a screen. Each class gets its own look, picked by year level or by the teacher. The check-in, the privacy and everything grown-ups see stay exactly the same.

SproutYears 1 to 4

A soft clay world with friendly feeling characters and big, chunky buttons.

SparkYears 5 and 6

Bold colour, chunky outlines and loud type. Playful without being little-kid.

OrbitYears 7 and 8

A calm night sky where the feelings glow. Grown-up enough for intermediate.

A school day, and where each feeling goes.

  1. 8:40

    Child

Taps a feeling and what they need. Under 10 seconds.

  2. 8:41

    Teacher

The class roll updates. Anyone who asked for a chat rises to the top.

  3. 9:05

    Teacher

Reads the check-ins and plans a chat with Tama at morning tea. It goes on the teacher's list, with a reminder.

  4. 10:30

    Teacher

The chat happens, in person. One tap: done, we've talked.

  5. 10:32

    Teacher

If it would help, a short note to the family. The teacher edits it and chooses to send it.

  6. 1:15

    Child

Something happens at lunch. One check-in a day, so Tama taps Need help? and the teacher gets a quiet message.

  7. 3:00

    Parent

The day's check-in appears, or sooner if the teacher shares an update.

  8. Fri

    Family

A short weekly summary, reviewed by the teacher before it's sent.

Children feel seen without speaking up in front of the class.

A twelve-feeling check-in, a few words if they want to add them, and a reply written by a person. Every feeling has its own shape and colour, so it reads at a glance. Rewards are for showing up honestly, never for picking "happy".

Teachers see who needs them, before the first lesson.

The class roll shows who has checked in and who asked for a chat. Plan a check-in in one tap: now, at morning tea, after lunch or before home time. It goes on your follow-ups with a reminder just before, and the child stays at the top of your list until you've talked. Leave a private note, set a reminder for after lunch. A privacy cover hides it all in a keypress when the board is on.

Parents stay connected without watching over a child's shoulder.

See your child's week after school finishes. Message the teacher privately: "rough night", "please call", "thank you". Agree support plans together. See exactly who has looked at your child's information.

The rules we built it around.

01No public feed, likes, followers or scores.

02No child can ever see another child's feelings.

03No location tracking. No photos of children.

04No AI reads what a child writes or says.

05No labels, no diagnoses, no behaviour reports.

06Teachers never see a child's home diary.

07Parents choose what's shared, and can see who looked.

When it's serious, the app gets out of the way.

MoodSpace Classroom supports teachers. It doesn't replace them, parents, counsellors or emergency services. A child who says they're scared or asks to talk rises straight to the top of the teacher's screen. If a teacher is worried about a child's safety, they can raise a concern with the school's designated safeguarding lead, using the school's own process. That goes only to that person, and never to other children.

If someone needs help now

We set up your school with you.

Schools join one at a time. We set yours up with your school leader, who invites your staff. Then each teacher adds their class of up to 35 children, sends each family an invitation and prints login cards. Your school decides how long data is kept, when parents can see check-ins, and who the safeguarding contact is.
